After the fall of France, the 2"0 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery (armed with outdated 3-inch 20 cwt anti-aircraft guns) was sent to Darwin as an immediate reinforcement of the garrison. the squadron found its target and attacked in the face of heavy anti-aircraft fire. On 3 December an advance party of Captain Fred Ingram (ASC), 3 officers and 52 other ranks of 5th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Training Battery sailed on USS Trinity, a fleet oiler, to Potshot in preparation for the installation of the guns. |
