Gaza City - The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) -- oPt are organizing a conference titled Death Penalty in the Occupied Palestinian Territory on Thursday, 8 October, in the Commodore Hotel in Gaza City.
While welcoming the announcement by the Guinean government that it will conduct an investigation, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay said "I would like to stress that it is essential that such an inquiry is both independent and impartial, so that all those responsible for carrying out summary executions, rapes and other human rights violations are brought to justice.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights should attach more importance to the rights of Palestinians and ensure that they are protected.
