A high intake of the highly unsaturated fatty acids may increase the vitamin E requirement and exceed the normal level of vitamin E intake. Results suggest that many marine fish and prawns require n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA), particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to maintain normal physiology and growth. |
