In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court struck down California's Holocaust Victim Insurance Relief Act of 1999.
Circuit Court of Appeals in California sent a challenge to the law back to the trial court, saying the trial judge, who issued a temporary injunction to stop the law, must re-examine whether the Holocaust Victim Insurance Relief Act of 1999 should be implemented.
District Court that the Holocaust Victim Insurance Relief Act (HVIRA) required tasks their clients could not meet because they lacked any such records, and had no way to compel the European companies to produce them.
