The House of Commons Defence Committee blamed the strain of simultaneous deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the erosion of mandated breaks between tours of duty for an increase in numbers of personnel quitting the services.
The chief executive gave formal evidence to the House of Commons Defence Committee, in Birmingham yesterday as part of an inquiry into the treatment of military patients, including those from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Cobbold is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a Governor of the London Nautical School, and served as a Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Defence Committee from 1997 to 2007 and in the same capacity to the Foreign Affairs Committee in 2002.
