A new project to examine the work/family balance is to be undertaken by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
The inquiry by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC) found Australia's immigration detention policy has failed to protect the mental health of children, failed to provide adequate health care and education, and failed to protect unaccompanied children and those with disabilities.
After a five-day visit to the Woomera detention centre in January, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission released a report finding no evidence of parents encouraging children to engage in acts of self-harm.
