Formed in 1949, the ICFTU has 234 affiliated organisations in 152 countries, representing 148 million workers who were ready to show 'unions aren't going to sit back and watch corporate globalisation simply drive economic profits . In its proposal to ICANN, the ICFTU submitted the request on behalf of thirteen international trade unions.
