The effort is headed by the ICJL and the Coalition for Common Sense Courts, who point to current venue shopping issues as harming the judicial and business climate in the state, which businesses examine closely when deciding whether to expand or locate - or even stay - in Illinois.
Through its political action committee, JUSTPAC, the ICJL has endorsed 14 candidates in contested races, including candidates in three Illinois Appellate Court districts, and has recommended "yes" votes for the retention of 20 judges in downstate counties, and 48 judges in Cook County.
