The model then was altered to simulate a house of the same size that just meets IECC 2004 code (ICC, 2004), maintaining the same operating conditions as the actual house, thus removing the effect of occupant behavior. The numbers refer to residential codes; for commercial buildings, thirty states have adopted codes that are equivalent to or more stringent than the 2003 IECC, while eleven states have codes that are more than a decade old or have none at all. The home is compared to a hypothetical reference home which is based on the IECC 2004, and the home is then provided with a rating. |
