IFTP will support the destroyers' Integrated Power System (IPS) and provide the means for conversion and distribution of the ships' service power to various shipboard weapons and sensor systems, as well as various auxiliary systems.
Mike Reed, Director of Electromagnetic Systems at General Atomics, stated that "The recent highly successful demonstration of a complete ship zone of IFTP power conversion modules by the GA/SatCon Team shows the near term readiness for the system to be selected for ship applications where power quality, increased performance, and improved electric distribution survivability are required and needed.
SatCon has done an excellent job for GA on Power Control Modules for the Navy IFTP Program," said Mike Reed, Director, Electromagnetic Systems for GA.
