Unfortunately, in the past five or six years Togo has slipped, issuing more of the IGPC suggested themes, perhaps a sad reflection of Togo's deteriorating economic condition and the ruling elite's need for the unpublicized earnings that outside stamp sales provide. While the reproduction of European artworks on stamp faces is common in IGPC countries, this practice takes on added significance when the biblical stories are told in two formats, European oil painting and Gabonese architectural decoration.
