S M Muneer who took the Presidentship of IPCCI in November 2009 informed that India Pakistan Chamber of Commerce an Industry was formed under an MoU between Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) signed on 10th April 1999.
The objective of IPCCI was to play a significant role in forging a strong economic partnership between Pakistan and India encouraging private sectors of the two countries to take the lead to drive the bilateral relationship by defining a clear road map and removing all road blocks.
He further said that the Executive Committee and General Body Meeting of IPCCI could not take place despite his best efforts.
He informed that IPCCI
(Pakistan Chapter) has offered Indian side for holding of Executive Committee and General Assembly Meetings of IPCCI
in Pakistan either in November or December 2009.
In view of the importance of IPCCI
, both the sides expressed strong determination for reactivation of IPCCI
through restructuring and induction of active members , promotion of B2B meetings and frequent exchange of trade delegations on reciprocal basis.
S M Muneer said that Secretary Commerce has handled the MFN issue brilliantly and finally both the governments reached to an accord.
Muneer is the third President of IPCCI
since its establishment under a MoU between FPCCI and FICCI in April 1999, said a release from Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday.
He welcomed the proposed visit of FPCCI and IPCCI
Delegations to New Delhi next month for meeting with FICCI.
