In 1993, recognizing that surgery was making a fast and ineluctable transition from the industrial era to the computer era, Professor Jacques Marescaux created an innovative private sector organization dedicated to leveraging the value of basic cancer research, with IRCAD, and developing new computer-based technologies for surgery, with EITS (Eurpoean Institute of Telesurgery).
