It comes after another top scientist Prof Colin McGuckin joined the ISCBRM last year.
Prof Michael Whitaker, chairman of the ISCBRM, said: "The Institute has already enjoyed a number of achievements in the stem cell field which have allowed us to take small steps towards developing new patient therapies.
Stem cell treatments are already saving lives and the ISCBRM aims to develop new treatments for the future.
