Increased urinary excretion of the protein IgM in patients with type 1 diabetes was associated with an elevated risk for cardiovascular mortality and end-stage renal disease, which may represent a prognostic marker for these complications, a new study suggests. First-time (primary) DENV infections typically have a stronger and more specific IgM response than subsequent (secondary) infections, for which the IgM response is low compared with a strong IgG response. The diagnosis of acute HAV infection is based on serologic testing for IgM antibody to HAV. |
