Nabi Biopharmaceuticals is pursuing a combination approach, starting with Altastaph (Staphylococcus aureus Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human)) and StaphVAX, to offer patients prevention of and treatment for hospital-acquired bacterial infections and, upon hospital discharge, prevention of longer-term relapse after an infection.
MedImmune actively markets four products, Synagis(R) (palivizumab), Ethyol(R) (amifostine), FluMist(TM) (Influenza Virus Vaccine Live, Intranasal), and CytoGam(R) (cytomegalovirus immune globulin intravenous (human)), and has additional products in clinical testing.
Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) products have been reported to be associated with renal dysfunction, acute renal failure, osmotic nephrosis, and death.
