Pete DeHart, ZLB president, said the company agreed to change the name of IVIG to Carimmune Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) in order to better reflect the company's focus on caring for patients and medical professionals. Known generically as immune globulin intravenous, the blood plasma is used to fight off autoimmune infections that develop as a result of cancer treatments. Gamunex is the preferred liquid immune globulin intravenous (IGIV) among allergists/immunologists surveyed, according to Harris Interactive([R] 1). |
