In LED lighting the diode referred to as solid state depending on indium gallium nitride which converts electricity into photon with the help of direct current.
The semiconductors used for producing Blue LED lights are gallium nitride and indium gallium nitride.
Because LEDs are semiconductor chips (albeit ones usually made of indium gallium nitride instead of silicon) they benefit from Intel co-founder Gordon Moore's famous pronouncement that the number of transistors per square inch doubles every 18 months.
