In the research, the University of Miami, through its NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center "Repair of Buildings and Bridges with Composites" (RB2C), performed the first-ever tests of full-scale concrete columns internally reinforced with glass fiber reinforced polymer bars.
Founded in 1985, the institute has grown as a center of excellence and since 1990 also houses The NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) in Coatings.
The Web Handling Research Center, an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center at Oklahoma State University, held its Eighth International Conference on Web Handling June 5-8, 2005.
