The existence of a board quality committee was associated with higher likelihoods of adopting various oversight practices and lower mortality rates for six common medical conditions measured by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Inpatient Quality Indicators and the State Inpatient Databases. The Department chose to report on the new procedures and conditions, which include Esophageal Resection, Pancreatic Resection, Craniotomy, Acute Stroke, Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage, Hip Fracture, Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty, and Carotid Endarterectomy, as they complement the quality indicators that OSHPD traditionally has reported on and round out the set of conditions and procedures established by AHRQ as relevant inpatient quality indicators. Its hospital reports provide Inpatient Quality Indicators (IQIs) and Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) as well as other information on specific conditions, procedures and services offered. |
