The preamble to the convention recognizes "the deep-seated interdependence between the intangible cultural heritage and the tangible cultural and natural heritage" (UNESCO, 2003b). In 2003 the Vietnamese government successfully proposed the special form of music developed in the Hue court for recognition as one of UNESCO's Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity and it will be inscribed on the new list of the world's intangible heritage to be established under the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, adopted in October 2003. Back in Ottawa, Craig is looking into identifying Aboriginal concerns pertaining to their" intangible cultural heritage. |
