The InterTribal Bison Cooperative and NWF signed an agreement last week that endorses shipping the roaming Yellowstone bison to tribes across the country.
The Intertribal Bison Cooperative in South Dakota is reestablishing herds on Indian lands for cultural as well as commercial reasons, though most of the herds rights now are raised on former cattle ranches.
DuBray is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux tribe and the past president of the InterTribal Bison Cooperative (ITBC), a coalition of 46 Native American Tribes in 17 states dedicated to restoring bison in North America.
