New tests based on the expression of interferon-gamma (IFN-[gamma]) by sensitized lymphocytes in response to specific M. In the November Nature Medicine, the researchers report that in the group with a history of BCG vaccination, the new vaccine elicited a potent army of immune system T cells that cranked out a compound called interferon-gamma. Elispot measures interferon-gamma, which has been used to indicate a CD8 T cell response. |
