We acknowledge that ELF MFs have been classified as "possibly carcinogenic to humans" (Group 2B) by the Monographs Programme of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC 2002) and that there is significant occupational exposure, thereby meeting our operational criterion for inclusion as a possible occupational carcinogen. He, Hiroshi Yamasaki of the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France, and their colleagues will publish the findings in the October ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PERSPECTIVES. International Agency for Research on Cancer: The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) organized a working group of distinguished medical doctors, toxicologists and other experts who reviewed the most recent science, including new studies from the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health showing a link between formaldehyde exposure and cancer. |
