Roerig reported that this study was supported through an investigator-initiated trial grant from Eli Lilly & Co.
A number of investigator-initiated trials are ongoing in cutaneous lupus, prurigo nodularis, ankylosing spondylitis, erosive osteoarthritis, cutaneous sarcoidosis and a number of other inflammatory conditions.
The investigator-initiated trial, which was sponsored by the Stanley Medical Research Institute, the Psychiatric Research Foundation in the county of Aarhus, and GlaxoSmithKline Denmark (via unrestricted grant), included 155 bipolar disorder patients aged 18 years and older who had experienced at least two episodes--with at least one of mania--in the last 5 years, and at least one episode requiring treatment within the past year.
