UKERNA (United Kingdom Education and Research Networking Association) manages the operation and development of JANET on behalf of JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) for the UK Further and Higher Education Funding Councils. A positive development has been the establishment of a Joint NHS-HE Procurement Group by JISC, whose goal is to procure one common piece of content jointly across the NHS-HE using a common license; negotiations are currently taking place with two publishers.
