Based on the aging phenomenon, and the manner in which CSER (1986-1992) was defined, it was anticipated that ETP, JSBM and API would be an inverse-U (or Bell) shaped, and that the ISBJ, JBV and SBE impact factors would appear in the declining portion of the Bell.
JSBM (Panel I) and JBV (Panel II), over 80 percent of citations were from sources outside its own publications.
In comparing the overall rankings with those obtained in the MacMillan Forums which reported the subjective opinions of leading scholars in the field, the rankings were found to be similar excepting that SBE obtained a higher ranking than JSBM, and API did not rate a mention (it ceased publication in 1992).
