During the 55 years Jefferson Proving Ground operated, over 22 million pieces of ordnance were dropped on what is now the Among the companies now operating at the former Jefferson Proving Ground are Firetac, a company that moved from Chicago and makes portable pumpers for fire departments; J&R Stamping; Pietrykowski Products, which makes skids; and Stephen's Machine & Tool. Several local manufacturers expanded last year, and the roughly 400 Jefferson Proving Ground employees who lost their jobs were quickly absorbed into the workforce. |
