Rose uses the analogy of a jet pilot when describing how patients need to take control of their illness. For example, before a jet pilot or astronaut ever leaves the ground, he or she spends hours in a sophisticated simulator that mimics closely most of the experiences that the pilot will encounter in the air. The last Derby winner with two preps as a 3-year-old was Sunny's Halo in 1983; before that it was Jet Pilot in 1947. |
