The Archbishop of Canterbury has already sought reactions from primates, and a small advisory group appointed by the Joint Standing Committee of the primates and the Anglican Consultative Council has been asked to examine the resolutions passed by General Convention. The FTA will now be considered by a joint standing committee on treaties in the Australian Parliament and by a Senate Inquiry. Fortunately a public outcry led to the intervention of the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties of the Australian Parliament, which criticised what was in substance the dishonesty of the Department of Treasury. |
