Using the large Subaru telescope atop Hawaii's Mauna Kea, researchers recorded a galaxy as it appeared just 780 million years after the Big Bang. Pepperdine ace Kea Kometani pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs and five strikeouts and Gonzaga's (24-14, 11-4) Josh Monroe threw eight with two earned runs and four strikeouts. In collaboration with the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center on June 2, 2001, NIST successfully deployed a new type of superconducting detector at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory at the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii. |
