THE number of pedal cyclists killed or seriously injured on the roads soared this spring, Government figures showed.
The number of 16 to 24-year-olds killed or seriously injured in cars was down by 28% from 138 in 2007 to 100 last year, but they are still more likely to be badly injured than any other age group.
The statistics mean the county council is on track to hit nationally set targets of reducing the total number killed or seriously injured by 40% - and children killed or seriously injured by 50% - over a 10-year period.
