Maternal-foetal medical specialist Jan Dickinson of Perth's King Edward Memorial Hospital said the blood test technique was based on the discovery that foetal DNA can cross the placenta and can therefore be found in the maternal blood supply. The survey showed nurses in remote districts, hospital emergency departments and King Edward Memorial Hospital were particularly at risk from violent behaviour, mainly from patients and family members. The WA Government has failed to honour its promise to cover the legal costs of nurses who gave evidence at last year's inquiry into obstetric services at the King Edward Memorial Hospital, according to ANF WA Branch Secretary Mark Olson. |
