When there is a reliable source of electricity available, it would be worth evaluating both alternatives (gas or electric drivers) supported by failure statistics for the electric grid such as LOLF (loss of load frequency), LOLD (loss of load duration), LOLP (loss of load probability) that will allow defining the reliability of the electric grid.
