Nisin is an antimicrobial protein produced naturally by a bacterium called Lactococcus lactis.
Using an inhibition zone assay, they checked for any antimicrobial activity against the nisin indicator strain Lactococcus lactis subsp.
They included Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactococcus lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifido-bacterium lactis.
