: Three months before the third annual Latin Grammy Awards, the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has elected its first board of trustees, headed by former Universal Music Latin America chairman Manolo Diaz, who will serve as chairman. Taking a few years to build the show is a small sacrifice, Greene said, given that NARAS executives have spent the last decade bolstering their relationships with the Latin music industry, including founding the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 1997. A couple of weeks ago, an independent record label criticized the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for not enlisting any Mexican regional artists to perform at the awards show. |
