He has served as chaplain to the Law Society of Upper Canada and has said grace at meetings of the Canadian Club of Toronto, a business organization. Elizabeth Sheehy: The Law Society of Upper Canada presented an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws to Professor Sheehy, at its Call to the Bar ceremonies in recognition of her numerous contributions to creating access to justice for women throughout the Ontario legal system. At that time, the Law Society of Upper Canada rules barred women because of a regulation that stated only "persons" could be admitted. |
