This article helps improve the understanding about the safety performance of longer combination vehicles (LCVs) relative to other articulated trucks operating on rural highways.
Longer combination vehicles (LCVs)--tractors with two or more trailers having gross vehicle weight of more than 80,000 pounds--are allowed in some states on certain highways under laws that existed prior to the freezing of truck size and weight limits by Congress in 1991.
