The flat sequential performance is due partly to the loss of carrier data service (IP, Frame Relay, ATM, and Private Line) customers because of bankruptcies and disconnections; however, this shortfall was offset by the strong performance of the Company's carrier voice business, which increased 10% sequentially to $287 million due to accelerating growth in minutes and a smaller decline in average revenue per minute.
