CASE SUMMARY A 74-year-old white man with chronic bilateral ankle pain and bilateral lower extremity edema presented with a 4-month history of right ankle pain that resulted in difficulty walking.
Because of the patient's prior medical conditions, including poor circulation and lower extremity edema, the wound did not heal well and continued to be very painful and numb for a long time.
