This year's MEIFF in Abu Dhabi was no exception regarding celebrity sightings and choices for opening screenings.
In attendance were - Rustum Al Zoubi, Syrian Ambassador to the UAE; Eissa Al Mazrouei, Project Manager of MEIFF and ADACH; Nashwa Al Ruwaini, MEIFFeIUs Director; Samir Farid, Festival Consultant and Head of Arabic Programming and Mohammad Al Ahmad, Director of Damascus Film Festival.
They are considered by many to be the most exciting programmes taking place during MEIFF to be held in Abu Dhabi from 10th to 19th October 2008.
Even so, when the Son of Babylon was submitted to MEIFF, it was not completed, but the festival's organisers liked it so much that they gave part of the MEIFF grants to the movie in advance, so it could be finished.
