In June, the Nikkei reported that MLIT may allow J-REITs to acquire foreign properties for their portfolios as early as fiscal year 2007. Many of the country's main river basins now have umbrella groups, or network organizations, supported by regional offices of MLIT and coordinated by academics, experts and environmentalists. Beginning in early 2005, the MLIT promoted CNG vehicles in the cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, set up public and private initiatives to establish more CNG fuelling stations, and expanded subsidies for CNG vehicles and lower CNG prices. |
