A vaccine for varicella - the medical name for the illness - is available and could be added to the existing measles, mumps and rubella jab by using the recently licensed MMRV vaccination, the report says.
The scientists suggest replacing the existing measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) jab with a quadruple MMRV jab to protect against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella.
Mascola said children can get the first and recommended second shot with a new multiple vaccine that provides protection against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox -- the MMRV.
