Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) Previously, ECMO had been the only option used in our MSICU for patients with acute reversible cardiac or respiratory failure who did not respond to conventional medical treatment. Many children in the MSICU would not be able to undergo CT otherwise because the severity of their illness prohibits transportation to the hospital's standard CT scanner several floors away. The MSICU management team, consisting of Cathy Roy, RN, MSN, and her assistant nurse managers, Ann Lauren Banda, RN, CCRN, and Jae Lorenzet, RN, CCRN, created the Wall of Honor in May 2006 with five other CCRNs. |
