Industry players must provide meaningful placements to the students for their apprenticeships, and MTCU must be in agreement with the arrangements between the two so it meets ministry standards.
Through Sky/Tech, a consortium of stakeholders representing government, industry and education, Cambrian's post-secondary students who are registered as apprentices with MTCU (Apprenticeship Branch) and who have completed two recognized co-op semesters with industry partners, are granted completion of their in-school education," says Michel Barbeau, Dean of Skills Training/SkyTech at Cambrian College.
Working with the MTCU, the CME prepared a report highlighting some of the success stories in Ontario where companies have hired immigrants and some of the means people can use to find people with those skill sets they need for their own business.
