FEMA's L461 Hospital Emergency Response Training (HERT) for Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI) Train-the-Trainer Course is designed to provide guidance to hospitals, EMS, health care facilities, and citizens who may become involved in a mass casualty incident as a result of a hazardous materials incident or a weapon of mass destruction event. More than 126,000 nursing positions are unfilled, leading to problems such as emergency department overcrowding, cancellation of elective surgeries, discontinuation of clinical services and a limited ability in the health system to respond to any mass casualty incident. Cygnus said it will be the first conference dedicated to the response and care of mass casualty incidents. |
