Last year, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) announced plans to revise its MasterFormat system--the list of numbers and titles for organizing building construction requirements, products, and activities into a standard sequence--to raise the visibility of security and other fields (see "Construction Industry to Exalt Security's Role," "News and Trends," May 2002). In October 1999, BICSI submitted a proposal to the CSI Technical Committee concerning Division 17 implementation in the 2002 edition of the MasterFormat.
