Amer Azizi, a 36-year-old veteran of Bosnia and Afghanistan, is a key figure in the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, who is believed to have orchestrated the 11 March 2004 train bombings in Madrid that killed 191 people and was involved in the May 2003 Casablanca bombings, which were also coordinated.
Their group, the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, is believed responsible for bombings in Casablanca last May, killing at least thirty-three people in addition to the twelve suicide bombers themselves.
The investigation into the Madrid attacks has focused on the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, which has links to al Qaida and is related to a group suspected in last year's Casablanca bombings, which killed 45 people including 12 suicide bombers.
