One hundred years after Manchester-born Verdon-Roe made the history books as the first British pilot to fly in his British-made triplane, hang glider world champion Judy Leden piloted a replica built by volunteers from Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry.
Graham Bradshaw, curator of the Discovery Museum, said: "It's hard to believe it's 75 years since the Municipal Museum of Science and Industry, which went on to become the Discovery Museum, opened in Exhibition Park.
They are also now available at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester - stored in the Doctor's Tardis
