NZNO, CONA, NZCMHN and NCMN have agreed in principle to establish a consortium for the profession to give authority to nursing specialty standards and competencies, particularly reviewing those emerging from non-nursing organisations, identifying gaps and providing advice on what constitutes a specialty. New Zealand's representation at SPNF meetings has unfortunate[y been a matter of dispute between NZNO and the NCMN for more than a decade. The NCMN identified the need to recruit more Maori into nursing due to the large numbers of Maori patients being cared for in the Auckland hospitals. |
