Similar in structure to the National Transportation and Safety Board, the NFRB would be designed to gather information and insight, draw conclusions and recommend steps to prevent the recurrence of corporate failures, Copeland said in a speech today at the Ethics Resource Center Fellows Program summer meeting, held in Potomac, MD.
Copeland added that the proposed NFRB would not displace business investigatory roles performed by the Justice Department, Congress or the SEC, but would work in concert with these agencies.
To advance this concept, Deloitte & Touche is assembling a team of partners, principals and other professionals with auditing, risk management and public administration experience to develop a model of how the NFRB can be structured, governed and financed.
